KARACHI, Oct 30: Governor Sindh Mohammedmian Soomro, who is also the head of the inter-provincial coordination committee on transport, has assured the country’s transporters that efforts are being made for the solution of their problems at every level.

Representatives of transport organizations met chairman National Highway Authority, Maj-Gen Farrukh Javed, at the governor’s house on Tuesday and discussed the problems faced by transporters. They presented proposals for improvement of facilities. The governor also met the representatives who announced to withdraw their strike call.

The governor assured that matters concerning the transport sector would be improved with the cooperation of the departments concerned of the federal and provincial governments.

He said he was in contact with all the other provincial governors, the federal authorities and the officials of oil companies and steps would be taken to redress the grievances of transporters.

He appreciated the decision by transporters to withdraw the strike call and expressed the hope that all issues would be resolved through mutual negotiations.
