LAHORE, Oct 29: Former Pakistan captain Majid Khan held Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), solely responsible for ruining the game in Pakistan.

“During his (Tauqir’s) tenure Pakistan cricket has touched lowest level besides sowing the seed of individuality among the players,” he told PPI Tuesday.

How a team could perform well when the players were inducted in the side on the personal like and dislike by the board’s chairman, he questioned.

“Owing to these wrong selection boys play their individual games and defy the discipline,” he added. Replying a question, Majid said presently the board was solely run by Tauqir and adhoc decisions never yield positive results.

He stressed the need to re-structure the PCB suggesting adhocism should totally be abandoned besides ensuring merit in selection.

About Pakistan chances to win the forthcoming World Cup, Majid said “very dim” as according to him in the presence of strong teams, it seems difficult for Pakistan to qualify for the final.”—PPI
