LAHORE, Oct 29: Teachers and students under the banner of the Joint Action Committee boycotted their classes on Tuesday and held protest demonstrations outside their institutions.

The protest rallies were held outside the FC College, MAO College, Shalamar College, Education College, Home Economics College, Cooper Road College, Girls College Shadbagh, Model Town College for Boys and Girls and Dyal Singh College after 11am.

The protesters chanted slogans against the constitution of board of governors, Model University Ordinance and victimization of teachers and doctors.

Police baton charged a protest demonstration outside the Dyal Singh College and arrested one student who was later released.

Meanwhile, JAC leader Dr Yasmin Rashid and Nazim Hasnain said the government had failed to withdraw the BoGs and MUO in the 24-hour deadline given by the committee. They said now peaceful demonstrations could not be guaranteed.

They said a protest demonstration would be held at the King Edward Medical College on Thursday against the government’s black laws.
