MIRPURKHAS, Oct 29: A meeting of the District Council on Tuesday demanded the immediate transfer of the district coordination officer, Mohsin Qureshi.
The session was presided over by Convener Nawab Younus Talpur.
A member, Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed Arain, said that the DCO did not attend the meeting and despite providing assurance, he did not release the payment of hand-pumps to contractors.
He further said that the DCO also did not implement resolution of the council and was trying to sabotage the present system.
In his resolution, which was passed by the council, he called for the immediate transfer of the DCO. The members walked out of the session in protest.
Later, the members under the leadership of its convener held a protest rally demanding the transfer of the DCO.
They said that the Council would not meet unless the DCO was transferred. They staged a sit-in outside the DCO office.
The District Nazim, Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani, arrived there and told the members of the District Council that he would request the provincial government to have the DCO transferred.
