Transfer of murder case to ATC demanded

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Oct 29: The Balochistan Union of Journalists has demanded that the case against the murderers of journalist Shahid Soomro be shifted to an anti-terrorism court.

In a resolution adopted in a meeting presided over by BUJ President Razaur Rehman, the newsmen condemned the murder of the young journalist and termed it a challenge for the journalists’ community and newspaper industry.

The meeting expressed its concern over the delay in submission of the case to the trial court and arrest of the accused.

It asked the Sindh governor to order immediate submission of the case against the influential accused to an anti-terrorism court. It expressed concern over provision of special facilities to the arrested accused.

It was observed that influential tribal elders were trying to give a political colour to the murder and demanded that the human rights organizations should take notice of the situation.

The meeting decided to send a memorandum to Sindh governor Sindh in this connection.
