RAWALPINDI, Oct 28: The central vice-president of PML-N, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, said on Monday that his party would not support the PPP if it joined hands with any pro-establishment party to form government.

He was speaking at a news conference held at the Rawalpindi Press Club here on Monday.

The PML-N members Chaudhry Tanveer, Sardar Naseem Khan, Mansoor Baig, Akhtar Mehmood, Shehryar Ryaz, Malik Shabeer Awan, Sardar Tariq and Khalique Hussain Bathi alongwith a large number of workers and party supporters attended the press conference.

Mr Shah said it was better to sit on opposition benches than support pro-establishment political forces and destroy the future of democracy in the country. He said his party would not mind the PPP joining the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal but would oppose any alliance with the PML-Q.

Zafar Ali Shah said: “It was not October 27, 2002, but infact, since October 12, 1999, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad had changed his loyalty just to save his head from accountability about which he was receiving threats from the military government.”
