N. Areas to have minerals directorate

GILGIT, Oct 28: The government will establish a directorate of minerals at Gilgit to explore the mineral wealth of the Northern Areas.

This was stated by Imran Nadeem, Advisor for Health, Tourism, Minerals and Industries, while talking to APP here Monday.

He said that the government was making all-out efforts to boost the economy and bring this area at par with the developed areas of the country.

Imran Nadeem said the administration of the Northern Areas had sent proposal for establishing the directorate while federal ministry for Kashmir and Northern Affairs had sent a summary to Law Ministry for making rules for mining in the area.—APP
