NEW DELHI, Oct 27: Occupied Kashmir’s new coalition administration will urge the federal government to hold unconditional talks with Kashmiris to try to bring peace to the state, an action plan released on Sunday said.
“The goal of the coalition is to heal the physical, psychological and emotional wounds inflicted by 14 years of militancy,” the plan agreed to by the People’s Democratic Party and the main opposition Congress said.
The PDP, whose leader Mufti Mohammad Syed will head the coalition, had campaigned in state elections on a platform of holding talks with militants to end bloodshed in the region.
“(We will) request the government of India to initiate and hold sincerely and seriously wide-ranging consultations and dialogue without conditions with members of the legislature and other segments of public opinion,” the plan said. —Reuters
