LAHORE, Oct 26: Punjab with 150 points were leading on the first day of the 5th National Women Junior Age-Group swimming championship, at the Fatima Jinnah Medical College hostel pool Saturday.
Sindh with 139 points are trailing closely behind, in second position.Both provinces have won seven finals each, while Wapda have won four finals.
Wapda and Army with 51 and 14 points respectively were in third and fourth position.
Meanwhile, four new national records were also established.
Prominent swimmer, Kiran Khan, from Wapda created three records in the Under-14 Age Group. In 100m freestyle, she clocked one minute 6.60 seconds to improve the previous record of one minute 13.01 seconds set by Ayesha Tajwar (Sindh) in Nov, 1999.
Kiran created the second and third record also, the second in the 100m backstroke with a timing of one minute 15.56 seconds which eclipsed the previous best time of one minute 22.54 seconds set by Reema Qureshi at the 3rd Islamic Games, held in Iran last year. Kiran’s third record was in the 100m butterfly when she clocked one minute 19.50 seconds to improve the previous mark of one minute 34.49 second, set by Tajwar.
Khulood Bawa of Sindh set the fourth record, clocking 36.36 in the 50m butterfly under-12 event, beating the previous record of 37.75 seconds held by Mehwish Naveed Aziz in the third Islamic Games in Iran.

100m freestyle (U-14): Kiran Khan (Wapda) one m 06.60 sec (NR), Ayesha Akram (Punjab), Mahwish Naveed Aziz (Sindh).
100m freestyle (U-12): Khulood Bawa (Sindh), one m 2.36 sec, Rubab Raza (Punjab), Eesha Khan (Punjab).
