ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: National Reconstruction Bureau chairman Syed Tanvir Hussain Naqvi has said that the parliament could make amendments according to articles 238 and 239 of the Constitution.
In an interview with the Voice of Germany, he said: “I do not want to make speculations, that whether the coming parliament will bring any changes or not, but the parliament will be sovereign.”
The NRB chief said that the future of democracy was bright in the country and the elected politicians would decide about the formation of the new government.
“It is understandable that the process needs time, I firmly believe that they will be able to form the government,” he added.
Responding to a question that whether some ministers’ joining of the PML-Q was affecting the neutral role of the present government, he said: “There is no question of partiality or impartiality. Political parties are making decisions independently to form the government.”
When asked whether President Pervez Musharraf wanted him as Senate chairman in the new setup, he said: “No, there is nothing of the sort. I am not going to the Senate, then how can I become its chairman.”—APP
