LAHORE, Oct 26: Kashmiris all over the world will observe ‘black day’ on Sunday (today) to condemn the landing of Indian troops in Kashmir on Oct 27, 1947 and their atrocities upon the people in occupied Kashmir.

In Lahore, various Kashmiri organizations led by the Kashmir Action Committee Pakistan will hold a protest rally outside the Lahore Press Club in the afternoon.

Similar rallies will be held in Azad Kashmir and other parts of the country.

KACP president Dr Muzaffar Shah, in a statement issued here on Saturday, called upon all the Kashmiris living in the city and the citizens of Lahore to attend the protest rally in large numbers to express their solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir who, he said, were fighting for their freedom from the yoke of India for the past 55 years.

He said that they had offered great sacrifices for freedom which would not go waste and the day was not far when they would achieve their goal.

He expressed his dismay at the indifference of the international community to the question of settling the Kashmir issue and said that the big powers had failed to use their influence upon India to solve the issue in accordance with the UN resolutions. He said that the people of occupied Kashmir started an armed struggle 12 years ago as a reaction to the intransigence of India and the indifference of the world powers to their Kashmir issue and braved the atrocities of the Indian troops.
