BAHAWALPUR, Oct 26: The Yazman Tehsil Council has asked the Punjab government to declare the area as a calamity affected.
A resolution to this effect was moved in the house at a meeting held in Yazman on Saturday under the chairmanship of Naib Nazim Basharat Randhawa.
The resolution expressed grave concern over the acute shortage of canal water and the non-availability of seeds and fertilizers.
To promote primary education in rural areas, the Education Department should move those boys and girls primary schools to their original locations which had been shifted due to the shortage of students, the council demanded.
INAUGURATED: Maj-Gen Abdul Razzaq (retired), the Cholistan Development Authority managing director, on Saturday inaugurated the exhibition of paintings and models depicting the Cholistani life.
The exhibition has been arranged by Bahawalpur Museum director Hafiz Hussain Ahmed Madni.
Speaking on the occasion, the museum director said that over 400 exhibits prepared by students of local schools had been displayed in the exhibition.
In his inaugural speech, the CDA MD said the exhibition would be helpful in introducing the life of Cholistan which most of the people could not see.
The CDA would also give away prizes to children who were participating in the exhibition, the MD added.
