RAWALPINDI, Oct 25: Faisal Khan struck an unbeaten 100 Friday as Saga gained an upper hand in their Kardar Trophy match against ARL.

At the close of second day’s play at the ARL Ground, Saga were 286 for five off 52 overs in their second innings after having conceded a 54-run lead earlier in the day.

Besides Faisal, Shahzad Malik was the other notable run- getter with 57 off just 47 balls. Spinner Sohail Tanveer snapped up three for 93 runs.

Earlier, resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 138 for four, ARL were bowled out for 254 but not before they had taken the lead. Manzoor Ali hit a patient half century while tailender Obaid Akhtar put on some quick runs on the board.

Manzoor who was 29 not out powered his side by striking 56 that came off 80 balls while Obaid, hit a run a ball 36. Paceman Tahir Mughal, who had three wickets to his credit Thursday, picked up another three to return figures of six for 93. Spinner Mansoor Amjad took three for 83.

Meanwhile at the Army Cricket Ground, Army were 75 for two in their second innings after dismissing PTV for 321 in 73 overs, thereby gaining a lead of 64 runs. Army had piled up 385 in their first innings.

PTV, who were eight for no loss Thursday, were helped by fine knocks from Naseer Ahmed Jr (79 not out), Basir Gulzar (71) and Noman Ali (46). Yasir Ishfaq and Noman Wattoo shared six wickets between them.
