GUJRAT, Oct 25: Police found 205 kilograms of hashish in two different incidents from Gujrat and Sheikhupura.

Lalamusa Saddar police on Friday claim to have recovered a huge quantity of hashish from an abandoned car which met an accident on the GT Road near Ali Chak.

The car (LXO-2059) overturned near Ali Chak when one of its tyres burst. According to the area people, the accident occurred at about 10.30 am on Thursday while police reached the spot after one-and-a-half-hour of the incident. Police found 110 kilograms of hashish from the car whose riders escaped due to the fear of arrest.

Police said that drug pushers, whose numbers could not be ascertained, had installed a green colour number plate and blue colour revolving light only to dodge police pickets and to avoid any check. The moharrar told Dawn over telephone that police had registered a case against the unidentified car riders and were trying to trace them.

SHEIKHUPURA: Khanqah Dogran police claimed to have recovered 95 kilograms of hashish from a vehicle bearing the number plate of an intelligence agency late Thursday night.

Police set up a picket near motorway after receiving information of the narcotics haul. As the jeep reached near the picket, police signalled it to stop. The driver tried to speed away instead of stopping. Police intercepted the jeep some distance away. Its occupants jumped out of the jeep and disappeared in the darkness.

The fine quality contraband was found from under the seats. Police are investigating.
