MIRPURKHAS, Oct 25: About Rs9.217 million were distributed as subsistence (Guzara) allowance, with a schedule of Rs500 each, among the Zakat mustahqeen, every month, through 712 local Zakat committees of Mirpurkhas district, during the year 2002-2003.
This was told by the District Zakat Officer, Mirpurkhas, Farman Ali Tanwri, while briefing the newsmen here on Friday.
He said under the rehabilitation package, Rs12.280 million had been distributed among 1134 people during the year, while Rs1.296 million had been provided from the Zakat fund to the health welfare committees of the district.
Giving the detail of the amount given to hospitals, he said Rs0.596 million were given to the Civil hospital Mirpurkhas, Rs1,50,000 to the Taluka hospital, Umerkot, Rs75,000 to the taluka hospital Kunri, Rs1,00,000 to the taluka hospital, Digri, Rs50,000 to RHC Mirwah Gorchani, Rs1,00,000 to the taluka hospital, Kot Ghulam Muhammad, Rs50,000 to RHC Jhuddo, Rs75,000 to RHC Pithoro and Rs1,00,000 to the taluka hospital Samaro.
He told that the scholarship scheme for the students would be launched soon and for the committees would be constituted at each educational institution for this purpose.
Under this scheme, Rs75 per month, would be paid to each student from primary to middle standard, Rs112 to the students of the 9th and 10th classes, Rs375 to the students of intermediate and graduation, Rs750 to the students of post graduation, Rs874 to the students of engineering, medical and computer science.
