HYDERABAD, Oct 24: Rich tribute was paid to the late Qazi Faiz Mohammad for his services in the cause of Haris and Sindh province on his 20th death anniversary the other day.

His anniversary was organized by the Sindh National Council (SNC) at the Sindh Museum.

Speaking on the occasion, the SNC leader, Hussain Bukhsh Thebo, said that the politicians had always sold out the interests of the country and the nation regardless of the cost.

He said the politicians were only interested in power, and added that we had not learnt anything from the tragedy of East Pakistan.

He said that Qazi Faiz Mohammad was a rare exception as he had supported Shaikh Mujeeb-ur-Rehman for the restoration of democracy and the rights of the people.

Historian and scholar Dr Nabi Bukhsh Khan Baloch said that the late Qazi Faiz Mohammad was a sincere person and his struggle for the rights of Sindh and the downtrodden masses could never be forgotten.

A central leader of the JSQM, Abdul Wahid Areesar, said that he had understood the real Sindh through Haider Bukhsh Jatoi, G. M. Syed, and Qazi Faiz Mohammad.

Jawaid Qazi, the son of the late Faiz Mohammad and a noted writer, said that his late father was a role model for the students of politics.

He said that Qazi Faiz Mohammad believed in politics of the mind and not of the heart.

PPP leader Jam Saqi said that it was not difficult to become a chief minister or prime minister but it was extremely difficult to become Qazi Faiz Mohammad.

Prof Eijaz Qureshi said that the late Qazi Faiz Mohammad had played a major role in the anti-one-unit movement.

Prof Inam Shaikh said that Qazi Faiz Mohammad was the only leader who had consciously supported Shaikh Majeeb-ur-Rehman.
