KARACHI: Desalination plant may solve water problem


KARACHI, Oct 24: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind has taken a serious view of water scarcity in Karachi and advised the DCO Karachi and other concerned authorities, including the KWSB to expeditiously solve this problem on a regular basis.

He issued these instructions while presiding over a high-level meeting in his office, attended by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Shahzado Shaikh, MD KWSB Brig (R) Jawed Ashraf, DCO Shafiqur Rehman Paracha and other senior officials.

K.B. Rind advised the KWSB to resolve the water problem so that the citizens of Karachi may enjoy reasonable water supply.

He noted that it is very essential to arrange a desalination plant to solve this human problem permanently. He said proper water supply be ensured in Korangi, Landhi, Orangi and Baldia.

The CS advised the DCO to hold meetings with Pakistan Rangers and KWSB on a daily basis to overcome this issue and resolve it with the association of the respective nation-building departments.

He said that tampering of supply must be controlled, while K-II project be accomplished in time. He also advised the KWSB MD to arrange a comprehensive presentation next week, with a view to adopt a suitable strategy for solving the water supply problem of Karachi.—APP
