KARACHI, Oct 21: A brilliant all-round performance by Tahir Khan led KESC to an innings victory over Pakistan Education Board (PEB) on the second day of the Kardar Trophy match at PCB Regional Academy Ground here Monday.
Tahir first hit 59 as KESC made 318 in their first innings and then captured six for 28 in 14 overs as PEB were spun out for 132 in their second innings.
Fellow off-spinner Irfan took two for 25. Both Tahir and Irfan finished the match with eight wickets apiece.
KESC’s other notable scorers were opener Zahid Ghauri (80) and young wicket-keeper Amin-ur-Rehman (59).
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) are heading for defeat after being forced to follow on by Karachi Port Trust at National Stadium.
PAF were tottering at 67 for four in their second innings. The airmen were shot out for 141 in their first essay. Pacers Shahid Iqbal (4-41) and Mohammad Hasnain (3-28) did most of the damage.
Sui Gas, meanwhile, are also in sight of victory after Navy struggled to 86 for four in their second innings at KCCA Stadium.
Sui Gas had earlier taken a first innings lead of 162. Resuming at the overnight score of 103 for one, Sui Gas reached 305 all out in 76.5 overs. Asim Munir contributed 64 while opener Mohammad Hafeez top-scored with 80 after starting the day on 52.
Our Sports Reporter adds from Rawalpindi: Noman Aman hit a blazing century and helped ARL take a substantial first innings lead of 107 runs against Pakistan Television (PTV) at ARL Ground.
Noman smacked 16 fours and a towering six in his 103 off 137 deliveries in just over two hours of batting.
Resuming at the overnight 28-0, ARL were bowled out for 325 in 78.5 overs in response to PTV’s first innings effort of 218.
Abad Mohammad (72), Asim Butt (52) and Sohail Tanveer (38) also made useful contributions for ARL.
Left-arm spinner Nadeem Sikander (6-97) and off-spinner Naseer Ahmad (2-118) were the main wicket-takers for PTV.
At stumps, PTV crawled to eight without loss in as many overs, but face a stiff task to save the match Tuesday.
PTCL were sitting pretty after Army were asked to bat again at Pindi Club Ground.
Army were bowled out for 210 in their first innings in reply to PTCL’s massive total of 384.
Shiraz Khalid, who took five for 74, top-scored for Army with 35.
Off-spinner Jawwad Hameed claimed five for 66.
