Hearing in SGS case adjourned till 29th

RAWALPINDI, Oct 21: An accountability court here on Monday adjourned the hearing of SGS corruption reference against the former premier Benazir Bhutto, her spouse Asif Ali Zardari and others till October 29.

The accountability judge, Mansur Ali Khan, adjourned the hearing in the case due to the pre-occupation of defence lawyer, Farooq Naik.

The court has already awarded three-year sentence to Benazir Bhutto after declaring her proclaimed offender in SGS corruption reference.

The Ehtesab Bench of Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, had convicted Asif Zardari and Benazir Bhutto in SGS case in April, 1999.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan setting aside the conviction had sent this case for re-trial in the accountability court.—APP
