KARACHI: Admission process at KU begins on 24th

KARACHI, Oct 21: The process of admissions to Master’s classes in the faculties of arts, commerce, science and Islamic studies at the University of Karachi will begin on Oct 24 with the sale of prospectus and admission forms at 11 designated bank branches.

There has been no change in the number of seats, said a KU official, adding that admissions would be made as per last year’s allocations while there would also be no major shift in the admissions rules.

About 2,400 seats are available for admission in the departments of Arabic, Bengali, Economics, English, General History, Islamic History, Library and Information Sciences, Mass Communication, Pakistan Studies, Persian, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sindhi, Sociology, Social Work, Urdu, Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Genetics, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Physiology, Statistics, Zoology, Commerce, Islamic Learning, Usool-i-deen, Quran and Sunnat.

Those holding a Bachelor degree with 45 per cent aggregate marks from any recognized university are eligible for admission.

Admission to Master’s classes in the departments of Applied Physics, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Health and Physical Education, Environmental Studies, International Relations, Public Administration, Special Education, Visual Studies and Women Studies are being made separately by the respective departments. Applicants to these departments are required to appear in aptitude tests.

The KU official said that last year the maximum number of admissions were made at the department of Economics, Botany and Zoology, while seats remained vacant at Sindhi, Arabic, Persian, Bengali and some other departments.

The admission forms would be accepted up to Nov 2, while merit list would be announced on Nov 15. Admission to BA and BSc (hons) and B. Pharmacy classes would begin in the second week of Nov.

The designated UBL branches are: Nazimabad Chowrangi, Bahadurabad, Malir Township, New Karachi, University Road, Hydery, Hamid Square, Drigh Colony, Landhi Industrial Area, Binnori Town and Defence Garden (DHA).

results: The University of Karachi on Monday declared the results of first year BS, and BSc Physiotherapy (parts-1,II) supplementary (additional certificate and new course) examinations.

Students bearing the following roll numbers have been declared pass: Part-I: 101, 103, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 113 and 114.

Part-II (additional certificate): 202, 203 and 204.

Part-II: 301, 302, 303, 304, 305 and 306.

First year (new course): 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, 408, 409, 410, 411, 412, 413, 414, 415, 416, 417, 418, 419, 420 and 421.

The University has notified that last date for acceptance of forms and fees for first year BS/Physiotherapy (new course) for the candidates of School of Physiotherapy, JPMC/LNH, is Oct 28.—PPI
