Three killed as bus overturns

BAHAWALPUR, Oct 19: Three people were killed and dozens of others injured on Saturday in an accident on the Rahim Yar Khan Road, some 70 kilometres from here.

Two speeding buses (PRK-7666 and FDK-9825) of Inayat and Sons and Al-Madina Company were on their way to Sadiqabad. Near Chanigoth, the bus of Al-Madina Company hit the other bus from the rear when its driver tried to hurriedly overtake it. As a result, the bus of Inayat and Sons overturned, killing driver Hashmat, Muhammad Anwar and Mst Sharifan Bibi instantly and injuring scores of other passengers. Akhtar, the driver of the Al-Madina bus, managed to escape from the scene.

UBL: The privatization and handing over of the United Bank Limited (UBL) to its new owners was celebrated here on Saturday.

In this connection, a ceremony was held at the UBL’s Farid Gate branch. Officers and the other bank staff, who were also present on the occasion, hoped that the new owners would also look after their interests.
