Office-bearers of Kohat bar elected

KOHAT, Oct 19: Malik Mohammad Iqbal advocate has been elected unopposed as President of Kohat Bar Association for the eighth time after the papers of his two rivals were rejected on technical grounds on Saturday.

Similarly, Mohammad Shoaib advocate was elected unopposed vice president of the bar, while Rehman Zeb Afghani advocate who got 76 votes, defeated Zaheeruddin Babar advocate who polled 50 votes to grab the seat of secretary-general.

Nadir Khan Khattak advocate supervised the election proceedings which were marked by lack of enthusiasm among lawyers community.

Shakeel Niazi advocate won the seat of joint secretary by defeating Zahid Bangash advocate. They polled 79 and 36 votes, respectively.

ACQUITTED: District and Sessions Judge Qalandar Ali Khan acquitted Mohammad Ishaq in a murder case on Saturday.

The accused was arrested by the Saddar police in the murder case of his sister-in-law a few months back.
