ISLAMABAD, Oct 18: The Pakistan Professional Forum (PPF) held a protest demonstration here on Friday to observe the first anniversary of the US attacks on Afghanistan and to express solidarity with the families of war victims.

The participants of the demonstration were holding torches and placards and chanting slogans against the US.

The members of the forum, while speaking on the occasion, shared the viewpoint that America was following a pre-determined course of action to secure oil riches of the Middle East and Central Asia. They termed the US war against terrorism a propaganda.

One of the speakers said Islam was a peaceful religion and it promoted the concept of co-existence rather than confrontation, whereas the west had openly waged a war against the Muslim countries.

Being critical of some of the Muslim countries, he said surrendering to the pressure tactics of the west, these countries were helping the US in killing innocent Muslims.

Another PPF activist said both the UK and US had held the UN hostage by asking it to pass resolutions of their own choice.

He maintained that president Bush was following in the foot steps of Hitler and predicted the same consequences for him as a result of the US policies which clearly ignored a number of international laws.

He said sooner or later Israel had to accept the Palestinians’ right of self-determination no matter how ruthless it would become in order to stop the independence movement.

The speaker termed America as one of the leading terrorist state of the world, as “it is sponsoring terrorism through its chessman states such as Israel.”

When America attacked Afghanistan, it did not prompted the UN security council to have a resolution passed with regard to its attack, but when it came to Palestine, it vetoed any such resolution that affected the vested interests of Israel, he added.

The protesters were holding placard reading, “Stop Muslim Genocide”, “Uncle Sam Stop Milking Islamic World”, “ Bush is After Oil”, “Yankees Stop Spreading Hatred in the Muslim World” and “What about Kashmir, Chechniya and Afghanistan?”
