Three students killed as bus overturns

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 18: Four people, including three students, were killed and 30 injured on Friday when a bus overturned on the Kamalia-Sindhilianwali Road, some 45 kms from here.

The bus (9270-MNA) coming from Kamalia overturned due to the failure of its tie-rod and smashed into a closed shop near Sindhlianwali Chowk. Conductor Gul Sher and three students of the Government High School, Sindhlianwali, died instantly while 30 others received injuries.

The deceased students were identified as Sajid, Shahid Khalil and Munir Ahmad. Nine of the seriously injured passengers were shifted to the DHQ Hospital, Pirmahal.

SAFETY COMMISSION: The Punjab government has notified appointments to District Public Safety Commission.

An official told Dawn on Friday that interviews were conducted by a selection board headed by the district and sessions judge a few months ago for the selection of the members.

They include Mrs Zubaida Khanum, Faisal Qazzafi (who lost election to PP-88, Kamalia, on Oct 10), Chaudhry Akhtar Ali Dhillon, brother of General Javed Dhillon and Father Bonnie Mendes.
