By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Oct 17: A group of United Kingdom-based industrialists plans to invest $120 million in different projects in Rawalpindi district, Board of Investment chairman, Waseem Haqqi said here on Thursday.

Briefing the district Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani on the proposed investment, he said, due to the investment around 5,000 jobs would be created in the district.

He said the areas of interest identified by the consortium of industrialists included biscuit manufacturing, telecommunications and computer productions.

The group has already started work on setting up of a biscuit manufacturing plant in the district.

The district Nazim assured the BoI chief that the group would be fully facilitated and provided with administrative support. Necessary infrastructure would be made available to them, he added.

Mr Kiani said the conditions in the country and the district were conducive for investment and no effort would be spared on part of the district government to make the atmosphere further business friendly.

The proposed investment, the Nazim said, would help in overcoming the district’s backwardness and solving the problem of unemployment.
