RAWALPINDI, Oct 16: Asim Kamal scored a blazing century that propelled PTCL to a massive 324 in their first innings on the opening day of their three-day Kardar Trophy match against ARL at the latter’s ground Wednesday.
The PTCL left-hander faced 137 balls in making 120, which took 216 minutes. Also among the runs was Zulqarnain who contributed 57 to the total that was achieved in 79.4 overs.
ARL were 22 for no loss in 11 overs at the close of play.
Our Sports Reporter adds from Karachi: Maisam Hasnain’s 123 powered Karachi Port Trust (KPT) to a first innings total of 291 for nine against KESC at UBL Sports Complex.
KESC replied with 20 without loss.
Navy’s Wasim Naeem was another man in fine nick as he blasted 145 against Pakistan Air Force (PAF) at PCB Regional Academy Ground.
Wasim and Mohammad Yaqoob, who contributed 81, shared a third-wicket partnership of 186 that helped Navy amassed 314 in 78.4 overs.
In sharp contrast there was a different story at National Stadium where the hapless Pakistan Education Board (PEB) were shot for just 93 by Sui Gas.
Leg-spinner Imran Tahir snared five for 12 in as many overs while speedster Wasim Khan chipped in with three for 28 as the students faced only 45.2 overs in the entire innings.
By close of play, Sui Gas had already taken first innings lead with Mohammad Hafeez (85 not out) and Ali Hussain (61) putting on 139 for the first wicket.
