St. Patrick’s win again

KARACHI, Oct 15: St. Patrick’s High school moved on top in Pool B, after registering another win, while beating Lecole School by 35 runs, in the Rev, Father Robert D’Silva Golden Jubilee Invitation Inter-school cricket tournament, played Tuesday at the National Bank ground.

Winning the toss and deciding to have first use of the turf wicket, St. Patrick’s were bowled out for 148 runs in 24.2 overs. Skipper Fawad Mehdi was the top scorer for his side with 35 runs. All-rounder Usman Usmani scored 26 and Abdul Ghani (18).

Ajmal Afzal was the pick of the Lecole attack, claiming four wickets for 35 runs. He was ably assisted by Muneeb Azhar two for 15 and Zair Kamal two for 34.

Mohsin Ehsan picked up five scalps behind the wicket.

Lecole School after losing opener Farhan Arif without a run on the board were happily placed at 86 for three. But after Zulfiqar Saleem was run out for 55 runs, the rest of the batting line-up crumbled and Lecole were bowled out for 113 runs. Spinners Shan Zaib three for 19 and Usman Usmani two for 22, were amongst the wickets for the winners.

In another math played later in the afternoon, DHA O & A Level beat St. Peter’s High School by a comfortable margin of nine wickets.

Batting first, St. Peter’s after a relatively good start were skittled out for 103 runs with Saad Siddiqui (20) and Wajhat Ali (19).

Jahanzaib two for seven, Levesh Rakhani two for 17 and Taha Lodhi two for 23, did the damage.

With Aarish Jamil hammering a quick knock of 59 runs and Amir Ali Rahim weighing in with 29 not out, DHA O & A Level school achieved victory by nine wickets. Aarish was later named the Man-of-the-Match.

Wednesday’s fixtures: Oasys vs DHA O & A Level at 9-30 a.m; St. Paul’s High School vs The Lecole School at 1-30 p.m. at the Pakistan Association of the Deaf (PAD) ground Clifton.
