LAHORE, Oct 15: Governor Khalid Maqbool has approved the establishment of ‘investment facilitation centres’ in Lahore and other cities known for their industrial exports.
“In these centres, foreign investors would be provided relevant data under one-stop operation about facilities extended by the government for the industrial sector,” says a handout.
The governor also granted approval for the construction of a trade centre over an area of 400 kanals at Expo Centre project, spread over 1400 kanals, at Johar Town Lahore, where exporters would be able to introduce their products, services and businesses on rotation basis.
The Export Promotion Bureau would provide an amount of Rs50 million for the completion of the proposed trade centre. The governor also gave approval for a project regarding setting up of woodworks refinement and display centres with the financial assistance of local industrialists and export development fund of the federal government in order to promote contacts between the skilled workers of furniture industry of Chiniot, Silanwali, Gujrat and Sialkot areas and the exporters.
WORKSHOP: The Department of the Auditor-General of Pakistan will hold a three-day post-budget 2002-03 workshop from Oct 21.
Central Board of Revenue chairman Riaz Ahmad Malik will inaugurate the workshop which will be attended by the officers of the AG Department, the CBR and other departments of the Punjab and the NWFP.
