SHC judgment on domicile challenged

Published October 16, 2002

ISLAMABAD, Oct 15: Supreme Court will hear an appeal of Federal Services Tribunal challenging a Sindh High Court judgment declaring that domicile of a candidate for a job would be from the area from where he got education and resided and not from the area of domicile of his father.

After hearing Attorney-General Makhdoom Ali Khan, counsel for the respondents, Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, and Deputy Attorney-General Hafiz S.A. Rahman, representing the Federal Public Service Commission, an SC bench on Monday granted “leave to appeal”.

The SC, however, did not pass any interim order, and ordered that the case would be fixed for final hearing within four weeks.

The bench comprised Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui, Justice Hamid Mirza and Justice Karamat Nazir Bhandari.
