KARACHI, Oct 15: Former Sindh chief minister and a central leader of the people’s Party parliamentarians Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday called on Jamaat-i-Islami deputy chief and central figure of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, at the latter’s residence and discussed with him current political situation in the country, especially with regard to formation of governments and election results.
The meeting which lasted for more than 90 minutes was held in a cordial atmosphere.
Talking to newsmen, Mr Shah said that he had maintained a liaison with Prof Ghafoor since 1970 and in future too both the parties would continue cooperation for restoration of the 1973 Constitution, establishment of democratic institutions, strengthening of vital institutions and maintaining sovereignty of the country.
“I have come here with an open mind to ensure that all parties should show unity for the well-being, prosperity and establishment of law and order in the province, which would help different segments of society in the province live in peace and tranquillity,” Mr Shah said.
Prof Ghafoor said his party along with the PPP had contributed significantly in the drafting of the 1973 Constitution and in future too we would not hesitate sitting with the party again for restoration of the same constitution currently in abeyance.—PPI
