Three labourers buried alive

SAHIWAL, Oct 14: Three labourers were buried alive on Monday when a heap of earth fell on them while boring a tubewell in nearby Rakh Chavly village.

The labourers were boring the tubewell of Chaudhry Imdad Hussain Bhatta when suddenly the earth fell on Kamal Din, Ishaq and Waryam. They died before any help could be provided to them. They dead labourers belonged to Chaks 137, 183/9-L and 116/15-L (Mian Channu).

PROTEST: A resident of a nearby village, arrested on charges of desecration of the Holy Quran, was shifted to Farid Town police station on Monday.

Muhammad Hanif Sheikh, said to be a disciple of a local spiritual leader, allegedly burnt six copies of the Holy Quran in order to learn black magic. When the villagers came to know about the incident, they blocked the village road for traffic and demanded arrest of the accused.

On the repot of Hafiz Mahmoodul Hasan, Kamir police registered the case and arrested Hanif. He was later shifted to Farid Town police station.
