Gibraltar to hold referendum
GIBRALTAR, Oct 14: Gibraltar’s parliament voted unanimously on Monday to hold a referendum on the future of the tiny Mediterranean territory next month, despite firm British and Spanish opposition.
The electorate will be asked on Nov 7 to vote on whether London and Madrid should share sovereignty over the disputed territory — an outcrop on the southern tip of Spain ruled by British for nearly 300 years.—AFP
