LAHORE, Oct 12: Punjab PML-Q President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said here on Saturday his party would not go for a solo flight and would prefer to take other parties along to form a government at the Centre.

For this purpose, he said, his party would also contact the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, an alliance of religious parties.

Talking to reporters at his residence, he said that the MMA was the natural ally of the PML-Q and the party was already in contact with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Chaudhry Pervaiz said in the Punjab, his party enjoyed a comfortable majority and the National Alliance and many independents were also with it. Fourteen PML-Q leaders who could be given tickets had been elected in their personal capacity and now they would be joining hands with the party.

Ilyas Khan, elected from Kasur, joined the PML-Q on Saturday.

Meanwhile, PML-Q leader Humayun Akhtar Khan, declared successful on NA-125 (Lahore), said here on Saturday that the general election was free and fair and any other allegation was completely baseless.

At a news conference, hesaid had the polls not beenfree and fair Mian Azhar and Haroon Akhtar (Humayun’s brother) would not have been defeated.

His PML-N rival Akram Zaki alleged that the election results of the constituency were changed.

Humayun Akhtar said he would have no objection to the recounting of ballots.

He told a questioner that Mian Nawaz Sharif’s monopoly of Lahore had come to an end. The city, he said, no longer belonged to the exiled premier.

MEETING: The central executive committee of the PML-Q is meeting on Oct 19 to review the post-election situation and decide the party’s future course of action.

This was stated by party president Mian Muhammad Azhar while talking to a group of party women who held a demonstration at his residence.

The protesters were alleging that the elections were rigged and be held afresh.

Mian Azhar said elections were free and fair and nobody should question their impartiality.
