LAHORE, Oct 11: The Joint Action Committee of teachers, doctors and students have said the nation has rejected the IMF-agenda, anti-people, anti-education and anti-health policies in the elections.

In a statement issued here on Friday, JAC chairman Nazim Hasnain, Prof Dr Haris Rasheed, Prof Dr Yasmin Rashid and others congratulated the newly-elected public representatives and urged them to scrap the Model University Ordinance and the board of governors and education boards constituted in hospitals, colleges and schools.

They demanded that the elected representatives should work to promote education and healthcare facilities in the country and enhance education and health budgets up to six per cent each of the GNP based on the UNO standards.

The JAC leaders appealed to all teachers, doctors and students to attend the already announced protest demonstration and rally at the Dyal Singh College onOct 14. — Reporter
