QUETTA, Oct 11: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) was emerging as a major party in the National Assembly from Balochistan as it has won three seats while in five other constituencies its candidates were leading with a big margin.
According to results so far received, Maulana Noor Mohammad of the MMA has won from NA-259, defeating Pakhtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai, PML-Q candidate Syed Fazal Agha, and a former Balochistan governor and PPP’s Saifullah Khan Peracha.
Another MMA candidate Hafiz Hussain Ahmed also was declared elected from NA-260 (Quetta-Chagai-Cum-Mastung). He defeated Sardar Fateh Mohammad Hasni of the PPP, Haji Baloch Khan Mengal of the PML-Q and Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Secretary-General Habib Jalib Baloch.
JUI-F Secretary-General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri also won from NA-268 (Kalat-Mastung).
Four other candidates of the MMA — Sardar Gul Mohammad Dumar, Maulana Rahmatullah, Maulana Amir Zaman and Maulana Mohammad Hanif — were leading in their constituencies against their rival candidates.
Other than the MMA aspirants, Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind is the only candidate who so far has won his traditional seat from Kachhi on the Millat Party ticket.
Balochistan has 14 general seats in the National Assembly.
