MOSCOW, Oct 10: At least 20 pro-Russian Chechen policemen were killed when an explosion ripped through a police station in Grozny, the capital of the breakaway Russian republic of Chechnya, late on Thursday, ITAR-TASS news agency said, quoting local police officials.
Chechnya’s Deputy Premier Bislan Gantamirov said the blast was the result of a terrorist attack carried out by the radical Islamist militants, the news agency reported.
There was some confusion as to the exact number of casualties as the search for bodies and survivors went on late into the night.—AFP
