NWFP cabinet resigns

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Oct 9: The NWFP cabinet on Wednesday reviewed arrangements made for the peaceful conduct of elections in the province and the adjoining tribal areas.

Presiding over the cabinet meeting, the NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and directed the authorities to remain in a state of high alert.

He made it clear that the provincial government and the administration had to maintain impartiality at any cost during the elections.

Earlier, the cabinet was briefed on security arrangements made for the holding of elections in a peaceful manner.

At the meeting, the cabinet members tendered their resignations to the governor, “upholding the best traditions of democracy and parliamen-tary norms,” an official handout said.

The governor appreciated the gesture but asked the cabinet members to continue working till the next cabinet is inducted.
