Nawaz wants big turnout of workers to foil plots

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif called upon the workers of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) on Wednesday to fully participate in elections for “neutralizing every move and conspiracy being hatched” against the masses.

“Stand up, and like a conscious and alive nation, counter every move and every conspiracy by casting vote for PML(N),” the exiled chief of the PML(N) said in a message, read out by Hassan Nawaz at a telephonic press conference from London.

“By putting seal on the symbol of ‘lion’ prove that unloyal and turncoats who switch sides for the lust of power, are not worthy of representing the people,” he said.

The sovereignty and independence of the country had been compromised, ever-increasing prices had made the life miserable for the common people, unemployment was on the increase, there was no security of life and property and in the past three years over 10 million people had slipped below the poverty line, he said.

On the constitutional amendments made by the present government, he said, they had made mockery of the Constitution.

He regretted that the government became a party to the elections and carried out a smear campaign against him. In the entire history of the country, he said, no other government resorted to such unethical and immoral tactics.
