Shehryar, Riaz snatch silver medal

KARACHI, Dec 9: Pakistan’s talented sailors Shehyar Arshad and Riaz Mohammad, grabbed the silver medal in the Enterprise Open sailing events after nine races in the 14th Asian Games being held in the South Korean port city of Busan as the 10 day multi-sport extravangza came to a close Tuesday, according to a message received today.

With only two races remaining due to non availability of wind the Pakistan pair are assured of a silver medal.

On Monday, lying third behind the Indian combination of Asshim Mongia and Ramchandaan Mahesh, Shehryar and Riaz moved ahead and grabbed the second spot improving tremendously after lying fourth amongst the five participating teams after the first day.

Of the nine medals the Pakistan sailors have bagged in the six Asian games since Bangkok 1978, six have been won in the Enterprise class alone. Four of these medals were gold and two silvers.
