Osama asks Pakistanis to establish Islamic govt

By Zulfiqar Ali

PESHAWAR, Oct 9: A letter purportedly written by Osama bin Laden on the eve of general elections has exhorted the Pakistanis to struggle for the removal of Musharraf government and the establishment of an Islamic government that should strive for the supremacy of Islam and Jihad in the country.

Copies of the letter, in Arabic and its translation in Urdu, read that Gen Musharraf is an agent of the US, and his removal is inevitable for the glory of Islam.

The security agencies, however, have expressed ignorance about the existence of such a letter which largely circulates in various refugee camps around Peshawar.

“No doubt, the rulers have turned Pakistan into an American military base. The Muslims are massacred across the world. Musharraf has let loose a reign of terror against the Mujahideen and has put the worriers in prisons,” the letter states, asking the Pakistanis to defend their Mujahideen brothers against the crusaders.

The single-page letter, bearing the name of Osama Bin laden at the end, says that in the current situation it is the religious obligation of every Muslim to work for the removal of a hypocrite ruler and to establish the Islamic government in the country.

The letter, carrying various quotations from the Holy Quran, also states: “Gen Pervaiz has not only attacked Afghanistan, but also betrayed the Kashmir cause by closing the LoC for the freedom fighters and described the freedom struggle as terrorism”.
