RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: The commuters had another day of trial and tribulations, as there was hardly any public transport vehicle plying on the inter-city routes.

Only a few buses of a private transport company could be seen on the roads, which were packed to capacity of travellers.

Big crowds could also be seen at every bus stop during office hours whereas attendance  in offices remained very thin due to non-available of the transport.

Union leaders of the transporters’ association blamed  the government for all this mess. “We had assured the administration that it would be provided as many vehicles as it needed on election day, but they violated the agreement and impounded our vehicles three days before the election,” they added.

An official of the Regional Transport Authority said they had arranged 963 vehicles to transport election staff and materials to their polling stations.
