ISLAMABAD, Oct 6: Top seed Shahzad Khan lived up to his pre-tournament billing as he thrashed unseeded Alamgir Wali 6-3, 6-2 in an extremely one-sided final of the ITF Pakistan International Junior Tennis Championship at Islamabad Club Sunday.
Shahzad was in ruthless form and exhibited a fine array of shots that left Alamgir in trouble.
For Alamgir, the problems began as soon as the match got under way as he fell 3-0 behind. And there was no question of catching up as Shahzad maintained his ascendancy and took the first set.
The second set followed a similar pattern, Shahzad troubling his rival with powerful fore and backhand drives.
The second leg of this ITF championship is set to start Monday at the same venue. Besides the home players, the event has attracted players from Sri Lanka, Thailand and China.
Shaui Zhang of China had won the girls singles title on Saturday by beating her country-fellow Shuang Wu 6-3, 6-4.
