FAISALABAD, Oct 5: ‘Political engagements’ of district and tehsil Nazimeen and staff of the government departments is not only hampering the routine officials work but also creating sanitary and cleanliness problems.

People were seen running from pillar to post to resolve their petty problems but they failed to find their ‘elected representatives.’

The district government secretariat looks like an election camp of the PML-QA nominees where round the clock meetings were being arranged by the Nazim to assist the candidates, especially contesting election in the rural areas.

Similarly, the TMA Complex has been converted into election office of Mushtaq Cheema, the PML-QA nominee for NA-83. TMA staff has also been forced to sign their attendance registers at the corner offices of Mr Cheema.

Union council Nazimeen and their deputies are also absent from their offices. In their absence, sweepers do not perform their duties. Heaps of garbage can be seen all over the city as majority of them are busy pasting banners and posters of candidates.

District Nazim Zahid Nazir is busy in election campaign of his younger brother, Asim, a PML-QA candidate in NA-77. City tehsil Nazim Mumtaz Cheema is participating in the election meetings of his elder brother Mushtaq in NA-83, while Tandlianwala tehsil Nazim Ali Gohar Baloch is campaigning for his uncle Rajab Ali in NA-78.

Jaranwala tehsil Nazim Maj Abdul Rehman (retired) who became Nazim with the help of PPP now participating in the meetings of PML-QA nominees. Samundri Nazim Rana Farooq Saeed Khan had resigned to contest election on the PPP ticket in NA-79.

VEHARI: Official proceedings at the district and tehsil municipal administration offices have been affected in the ‘absence’ of nazims and their deputies who are engaged in the campaign of ‘king’s party’ candidates.
