SHIKARPUR, Oct 5: A two-member team of the European Union election observer mission, comprising Jesus Arranz and Paul Horsting, on Friday visited Shikarpur to observe the pre-election process.
The team, during their visit, met with the candidates belonging to various political parties to exchange views in connection with the election related matters.
Aftab Shaban Mirani (PPP), a candidate for NA-202 (Shikarpur-I), informed the team members that the government was using every possible method to pave the way to success for the candidates who were supporting its policies.
He said the Sindh governor was deputed to motivate the people to vote for government-backed candidates.
He told the observers that in order to rig the polls the polling stations, in certain constituencies, were established in remote areas with nominal population, making it easier for the patronised candidates to cast bogus votes.
The observers also met with journalists and informed them that 164 members of the European Union election observer mission were engaged to observe the political situation and election process throughout the country.
