Bangladesh stun Pakistan

Published October 5, 2002

BUSAN, Oct 4: Pakistan slumped to a surprise 44-10 defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the Asian Games kabaddi competition Thursday.

Pakistan’s team is ageing and does not compete in international competition outside the quadrennial Asian Games, which may account for their shock beating by the Bangladeshis.

That result cleared the way for India to march on towards the gold and there is little to stand in their way according to 28-year-old right cover Rammehar Singh, 28, who plays for the armed forces team Services.—Reuters
