SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 4: Residents of a nearby village blocked Faisalabad Road for traffic for over three hours on Friday to protest over the killing of a class XI student.

According to details, 16-year-old Hasan Raza was walking along Faisalabad Road towards his college when a Sialkot-bound speeding bus hit and killed him near Kharianwala, some 6 kilometres from here.

Following the accident, a large number of college student reached the spot along with shopkeepers and residents of Kharianwala. They blocked the road for traffic by burning used tyres. Later they put the body in the middle of the road.

After three-and-a-half hours a heavy police contingent reached the spot. The protesters dispersed when senior police officers assured them that the driver would be brought to book.

Meanwhile, four people were killed in road accidents during the last 24 hours.

On Sargodha Road near Ghazi Minara, teenager Erum was hit and killed by a speeding wagon (No FDP 9076). The driver of the vehicle escaped.

On Faisalabad Road near Bhekhi bus stop, a youth was hit and killed by a speeding track (No GT 3754).

Asif was going to his home on a bicycle when the truck hit him near Bhekhi bus stop. He died on the spot.

A speeding car hit and killed Sardaran Bibi near Joyanwala Mor when she was crossing Lahore Road. The car driver escaped.
