IIU students hold demo

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 3: Hundreds of students of International Islamic University (IIU) on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against the non-availability of water in their hostels.

The students came out of their hostels, situated in H-10, and started marching on the roads in the evening. They were chanting slogans against the district administration and the Capital Development Authority. They also blocked the traffic on Kashmir Highway.

However, the officials of district administration and police took it seriously when the protesters started heading towards the Presidency. On their way to the Presidency, the students also blocked the traffic at Zero point.

Meanwhile, the chief commissioner and the Inspector General of Police called the reserved force to control the angry students.

Later, the students were convinced by the district administration officials not to move towards parliament. The CDA officials also held talks with them ensuring that arrangements would be made to supply water to their hostels.
