ISLAMABAD, Oct 3: The Election commission (EC) is running the election campaign of the king’s party by showing its symbol, bicycle, in its sample polling advertisement on the PTV.
Former MNA and People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) leader Nazir Hussain Kiani, on Thursday, said the advertisement was meant to educate the people on how to case their votes. However, it repeatedly showed the election symbol of Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam).
The advertisement shows two boxes — the green one for National Assembly and the white one for provincial assembly. The ballot paper shows only four election symbols, and the last one is bicycle.
Mr Kiani said the advertisement did not show the voter stamping on the PML-Q symbol, but the party’s election symbol was shown time and again. The government is footing the bill for the advertisement, he said.
The advertisement does not show arrow, tiger, book or any other election symbol allotted to the rival parties of the PML-Q. Is this being done purposefully?, he asked.
The PPP leader asked the election commission to stop this pre-poll rigging.
