HYDERABAD, Oct 3: The district Nazim, Hyderabad, Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, who is also the chairman of the zonal sugarcane cess committee, has asked the Taluka Nazims having sugar mills in their areas to submit their new development schemes for 2002-2003 under the sugarcane cess development programme by Oct 12 so that they could be tendered by the end of the month.

He said this while presiding over the first meeting of the zonal sugarcane cess committee at the Shahbaz Hall on Thursday.

The DCO, Hyderabad, Mir Hussain Ali, informed the meeting that priority was being given to the on-going development schemes of the sugarcane cess development programme.

He said that Rs50 million would shortly be released to the Talukas to get 42 on-going development schemes completed by Dec 15.

He said that more than Rs91 million had already been utilized on the development schemes.

The district Nazim, Hyderabad, Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, while addressing the meeting, said that he had decided to establish a pool of district development funds containing the KPP, ADP, and sugarcane cess development funds to ensure equitable distribution of development funds among all 102 union councils of the district.

The district Nazim sought the cooperation of the management of the sugar mills in providing basic facilities to the people, especially the inhabitants of the rural areas.

The Nazims of the Talukas concerned, the representatives of all six sugar mills of Hyderabad District, and the officers of government departments concerned were also present on the occasion.

SPSC: The controller of examinations, the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), Hyderabad, has announced the names of candidates who were found fit after the viva voce test for MSc and BSc Forestry course 2002-2003 in the forest department.

The SPSC has recommended their names to the Government of Sindh for the said course.
