KARACHI, Oct 3: Dr Jameel Kauser, the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) candidate from the PS-125, has announced his withdrawal from the contest in favor of the Muttahida Majils-i-Amal candidate, Aslam Mujahid.
Addressing a press conference at youth Karachi Press Club (KPC) here on Thursday, he said he had taken the decision to block the way of terrorist organizations and to support the like-minded parties.
He said he was given the party ticket to contest the elections from two provincial assembly constituencies in Sindh, and after his withdrawal from one constituency, he would contest the elections from another constituency in Karachi.
MMA allegation: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal candidate from NA-255 Aslam Mujahid has alleged that “an ethnic group operating in (the) Landhi area” is creating hindrances in his election campaign by threatening MMA workers, besides removing their banners and posters in the constituency.
Speaking at Karachi Press Club here on Thursday, he said MMA’s worker Rohaila Ghous, along with other women workers, were misbehaved with by some miscreants near Bait-ul-Hamza, Landhi.
“After threatening and harassing them, these ‘Ghunda’ elements removed banners and erased MMA chalkings (from) walls, besides destroying our election symbols” he added.
He alleged that polling stations are being established in far flung areas, whereas presiding officers were being appointed on the “ethnic group’s discretion”.—PPI
